You should change your eating habits to keep your level of nutrients and a healthy lifestyle.
What eating practices you should change to preserve your nutrition level and healthy living are revealed by diet specialists.
It is crucial to watch what we eat if we want to age healthily because as we get older, our metabolism slows down, and our calorie needs to decrease, but our nutrient needs remain the same. As we get older, we need to consume a high-fibre diet to help us manage conditions like diabetes, obesity, high cholesterol, and heart disease. A healthy amount of fibre, which is beneficial for lowering cholesterol and regulating weight, is provided by a balanced diet that includes an adequate amount of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Fibre is also thought to be cardio-protective and heart-friendly.
Sreyashi Moitra, a nutritionist and member of Herbalife Nutrition India’s Dietetic Advisory Board, stated in an interview with HT Lifestyle that “India’s nutritional status is diversified and undernutrition, overnutrition, and imbalanced nutrition are still prominent. Dietary fibre and protein are the two most commonly overlooked components in our diet. In addition to keeping us satisfied, protein aids in the development and maintenance of muscle mass, a crucial component of the body’s cells, hormones, and enzymes.
However, dietary fibre is necessary to maintain the health of your digestive system. “Balance” is the secret to changing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Keep in mind that no nutrient is harmful, and nothing useful in excess. It’s time to put aside fad diets and unattainable targets and consider nutritious foods as a way to nurture our bodies.
Niyati Naik, a clinical dietician at Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, maintained that adopting healthy eating habits has become imperative in light of the worrying rise in mindless food trends. “Portion control in a well-balanced diet along with exercise is the key,” she suggested. A flawless synthesis of all dietary categories without elevating one while unrelentingly belittling the others must exist.
To maintain the proper nutritional level, each meal should contain a sufficient amount of protein, followed by complex carbohydrates, fibre, and healthy fats. The other crucial elements to take into account for a healthy and happy lifestyle are hydration, sleep, and physical activity.
Dr Varsha Gorey, Senior Clinical Dietitian and Head of the Dietetics Departments at Apollo Hospitals in Navi Mumbai, brought her experience to the topic and identified 10 eating behaviours that one should adopt to live a healthy lifestyle:
8 to 9 glasses of water are recommended, although every body type must adjust to water in a different way. There are certain restrictions on fluid intake in some clinical situations, however in other cases, drinking more water is encouraged. These are the general guidelines for maintaining healthy health.
The 10-hour food break. This void is crucial because it allows for improved digestion, absorption, and utilisation of the food.
