September is recognized as National Honey Month in every country. It tries to advertise honey as a natural sweetener and the beekeeping business.

Honey has skin-brightening properties and, when used frequently, makes the skin hydrated and healthy. Honey not only works wonders on oily, acne-prone, and mixed skin types but is also fantastic at repairing dry skin. Contrary to popular belief, it has skin-balancing properties that leave the skin moisturized and purified without being overly greasy, according to Shreedha Singh, CEO, and Co-Founder of The Ayurveda Company (T.A.C).

Since honey is a natural exfoliator, applying it to your face and gently brushing it eliminates dry, dead skin while renewing the fresh skin cells underneath.

A quick tip: Mix two spoonfuls of honey with one spoonful of sugar. “Gently scrub it off in a circular motion after applying this mixture evenly to your skin for around 10 minutes. Use a wet cloth to wipe the skin to remove the stickiness, continues Singh.

Heals sunburns

By nourishing the damaged tissues, honey’s soothing qualities can help reverse UV damage and reduce skin irritation. Two teaspoons of aloe vera gel and one teaspoon of honey should be mixed together. “Apply this mixture and keep it on for an hour to relieve your sunburn. You will see a noticeable difference in your skin if you follow this procedure every day, says Singh.

Minimizes wrinkles

Honey is a superior humectant or natural humectant. It has moisture in it, which helps to prevent wrinkles. The antioxidant qualities of honey also moisturize dry skin and slow down the aging process.

Quick Tip: Combine one spoonful of papaya or curd with one tablespoon of honey to make a face pack. 30 minutes after applying it all over your face, wash it off.

Helps cure blemishes

Apply raw honey directly to the acne-prone areas, let it sit for 15 minutes, and then wash off with warm water. If you want to allow the healing effects of the honey to work their magic on the spots, you may even leave it on overnight. The next morning, rinse it off, advises Singh.

Fights acne

Honey’s antiseptic and antibacterial properties help it combat microorganisms that cause acne. Honey should be applied in a thin layer and left on the face for 30 minutes. Wash your face with ordinary water.

Makes the pores clean

By clearing up pores thanks to its antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties, honey aids in the removal of blackheads. It also moisturizes and tightens skin pores for a clean complexion.

A quick tip: Try mixing one spoonful of raw honey with two spoons of jojoba or coconut oil. Avoid the region around your eyes when applying the mixture to clean, dry skin, and gently massage in a circular motion. Rinse with cold water.
